Blood-Type O Diet: Vegan Style

Anyone that has been following me on Facebook or Twitter knows that I have been reading "BloodType Diet-Type O". I heard about this type of diet/lifestyle before, but I inquired about it for a different reason than doing a diet. If you know me, than you know that I absolutely despise the word and thought of a doing a diet. I am a firm believer that DIETS DO NOT WORK, but if your making a change in lifestyle you will have a long-term success vs. losing and gaining once the diet is over. The reason why I start doing research is because I wanted to learn more about how certain foods affect different blood-types or at least mine. LOL! I did this because as I start introducing certain healthy foods into my eating regimen I noticed that my body wasn't responding to them as I would have preferred and my weight-loss stalled. I have also had a lifetime issue with consuming certain foods that I like, but my body rejects. When I viewed the list of beneficial, neutral, and avoid foods for weight-loss I realized something that I found interesting. When I started my vegan journey I was consuming foods that were mainly on the beneficial list, some were listed on the neutral, and only a handful from the avoid list. I was amazed how instinctively I was eating foods that work best for my blood-type. As my weight-loss has stalled a bit I have decided to experiment again with my body, and go back to eating primarily from the beneficial, secondary neutral, and rarely from the avoid list. I love the vegan lifestyle and have no desire to go off that track, and I don't see any health or environmental benefits of doing so. Besides haven't you heard that Kale is the new beef, and I encourage people to consume more kale. LOL! So yes, my blood-type is O, and many people told me that I need to eat meat, but I disagree. I can respectably disagree because I have been down that road before, and I wasn't thriving like I thrive on vegan. A friend of mine posted that she is going to start a 3 day juice fast tomorrow, and I have decided that I will do a 3 day juice/smoothie fast as well as a jumpstart. I am so excited and I plan to track my food via "My Fitness Pal" username "NaturallyDolicious". After the 3 days of juice/smoothie cleanse I am going to stick with my plan for an additional 47 days-57 days. This is going to be an wonderful journey, and I am so excited.

Another new Raw-experience, and why I love Wheat Berry......

Where there is an great environment and great food you will ultimately find great people. ~Dolicia M.

Today I woke up kind of grumpy because like everyone else I lost an hour of sleep, however after my green smoothie that changed. I felt like me again, but the green drinks make my feel capable of doing anything including wearing a cape. Seriously!!!! On Thursday I made a commitment to myself that I would consume primarily RAW foods until I reach a 40 pound weight loss. In that moment I did not say that I will start on Monday, the 15, or any other day. Instead I decided that because I thought of doing it that day that I would start that day. Well, I am so glad that I started that day. Just happens that I had Zumba that night, so before going to the gym I made a green smoothie, and took water & a banana with me. I felt great doing Zumba on that first night RAW, and could only imagine how I would feel by the next class. Going RAW is easy for me to do at a drop of a dime because I already have what I need in the fridge, and when I am out and about I have Wheat Berry Bread & Cafe to meet my RAW needs. I love going to Wheat Berry because they have great RAW drinks, elixirs, and other RAW items on the menu. I can't speak on others experience, but my experience has always been great there.   The owners are great people, and with that other great positive people seem to always be present in the Cafe. Today I meet another cool, energetic, positive, RAW loving vegetarian there, and we joked about taking pictures of food. Needless to say her food photos surpass mine. LOL!!!! In a few moments of conversation I felt like I have known her for months, but she isn't the first person that I have had that connection with at Wheat Berry. If your new to RAW I suggest starting with anything on the RAW menu, but my personal favorite is the RAW pizza and any RAW deserts available that day. When it comes to the drinks I can't pick a favorite because I love them all. Well, don't take it from me go experience it for yourself!

Primarily Raw until I reach......

Like most people you guys probably think that I have lost my mind again, but I love you humans too. On Thursday I thought about how my skin was slowly repairing, how I was feeling blotted, and not so vibrant at the moment. Then I thought about when I was RAW, and how I felt during that time. That was the moment that I knew I should go RAW for several reasons which were to feel that high of vibrancy, watch my skin clear & glow more, and to get closer to my weight loss goal which is in the range of 110-120 lbs. Right now my home scale is toggling between 165-170, so as you see I have some work to do. Normally, when someone ask and I share my goal weight they often say that is too small, but keep in mind that my main focus for wanting that range is simply my for my heart health. Normally I set a number of days to go strictly RAW, but this time I decided to go primarily vs. strictly RAW til I have achieved a 40 lb weight loss. How long that will take is something I am unsure of, but for me that is a way to get closer to my goal. Now I know that most people don't understand what it's like to go primarily or strictly RAW, and if I were to explain it you will never understand until you have experienced it for yourself. I will still continue using "My Fitness Pal" to ensure that I am getting at least 1500 calories per day. When I think back to August 2011 when I did my 60 days of RAW I realize how I lost the weight without exercising consistently, but this time is different because my husband is not in another country for starter so I have a set schedule that I can stick with. It's also different because not only am I attending the gym on a regular, but I have also picked up Yoga/Pilates, Body Works plus Abs, and my favorite of them all Zumba. OMG!!!! Our Zumba instructor kicks our ass every class, but she is great and packed with energy. The energy that she brings to the class makes me want to push harder to at least try to keep up with her speed, and yes challenge myself to go further as well. Yes, I am one of those people that competes with self vs. others.  I have me to prove something too!!!! Well, I can write all night, but this human has to rest too. Oh, and I can't wait to visit my favorite place Wheat Berry Bread Cafe & Raw Juice Bar tomorrow to get a RAW juice, elixir, or RAW pizza tomorrow. I love that place!!!!

Strawberry & Citrus salad

For dinner I wasn't very hungry, so I ate something simple and delicious.....Yes, a salad!

Very simple to make too....
Ingredients: Spring mix salad, limes, strawberries, cilantro, ground peppercorns (black pepper can be used as well), red onions, tomato.

Directions:
Add spring mix salad into a bowl, and top with strawberries. (Cucumbers can also be added, but I wasn't in the mode for them tonight)

Dressing:
Slice the red onion, dice some tomato, and add to a small bowl

Squeeze the juice from the lime/s over the onion & tomato mixture, add black salt (sea salt will do), peppercorns, agave nectar, and stir together with a spoon or fork.

Blend:
Spoon the dressing onto the salad, eat, and enjoy.

==========

How to create a full meal

.....Add black beans/chick peas/black eye peas to the salad, and toss on a bed of brown rice/quinoa.

Sorry I don't measure anything so just make to your taste.
